What this model means
Same operating story, lighter engine
Integer mattress quantities, sequential stations, individual yield draws, queues, 250-unit shipping bundles, scheduled departures and proactive OEM replenishment. Transport and work in progress are retained at the cutoff.
Times are departures, not arrivals
Red times dispatch FGI; green times depart the hospital with used mattresses. Transport takes additional time. Only finished bundles can depart during the loading window.
Factory calendar is explicit
The default shutdown is 13:45–17:00 daily: 20.75 operating hours. Processing finishes work already underway before closing. The capacity estimate assumes 24 uninterrupted operating hours and excludes handling bottlenecks.
Approximate JaamSim agreement
The engine uses an independent seeded random generator and aggregates very short handling steps. Same seeds reproduce this engine, not JaamSim's exact draw sequence. Shipment cutoffs can change results by a full bundle.
Included handling rules & validation limits
Factory receiving opens after five minutes and unpacks 250-unit bundles at 0.25 minutes per mattress, feeding 25-unit lots. Washington unpacks at 0.01 minutes per mattress. Packing FGI, collection and Washington returns takes 0.01 minutes per mattress. Factory scrap moves in groups of five 25-unit containers, held for the configured time, then released one per minute. Hospital use includes approximately one minute of internal handling. OEM supply is assumed available without a supplier capacity constraint.
Initial stock is created once. Shutdown periods repeat daily for the selected horizon. JaamSim's delivered reference has a three-day calendar; longer web runs are extrapolated scenarios. Physical conservation is checked for every run. Neither model includes measured staffing, cost, rework, individual mattress history or clinical service guarantees.
Reference comparison evidence is provided with the project. No claim of exact equivalence across every possible input.
